The information was given by the Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation, VK Singh. Explain that after the construction of the new terminal, its passenger handling capacity will increase from 50 lakhs to 80 lakhs per year.

The look of Patna airport will change by 2023: Let us tell you that Rs 1,216.9 crore has been approved for the development of Patna airport, and so far 32% of the funds have been spent in three packages. Under the project, the domestic terminal building, air traffic control (ATC) tower, fire fighting station and cargo building are to be constructed. The physical progress in the three packages was 72%, 28.75% and 37%, respectively.

Large amount of land will be required: The Bihar government is to provide 41.5 acres of land at Patna airport for parallel taxi tracks, isolation bays and other structures. The state government has given 15.5 acres of land to set up isolation bays (a special parking space for aircraft facing emergency situations like hijacking or bomb threats) and Doppler Very High Frequency Omni Range (DVOR) equipment.

Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said that the state government has provided 108 acres of land for the Bihta airport, but an additional 83 acres will have to be given to make it suitable for operation of international flights and expansion of the runway.
