Future trains will run without drivers. The Research Design and Standards Organization (RDSO) has intensified the work on automatic train operation technology. In the first phase trial of Train Collision Avoidance System (TIKAS), RDSO has introduced new features like driverless train, loop line speed control, automatic whistling at level crossings. RDSO will also run trains at a speed of 200 kmph within two years. Director General Sanjeev Bhutani gave this information after reviewing the important projects of RDSO on Friday.
The Director General said that 160 km. The coach factory will now prepare 44 train sets of Vande Bharat Express running at an hourly speed instead of three in a year. Its first prototype will also arrive in April next year. For this, there will be an OHE upgrade of two times 25 kV. RDSO is making R-1175 class rail to increase the capacity of the line.
Now the 26-coach trains have a distance of 160 km. WAP-7 HS engine has been developed to run at an hourly speed, whereas under Mission Raftaar, goods trains can be run at a speed of 100 km. To run at an hourly speed, the WAG-9 HH has been trialed by two companies named Simmons and Megha Enterprises. BHEL’s trial is still pending. Roll-on-roll-off wagon design is being done to deliver oxygen faster from one place to another. Its design is ready and the trial will be from this month.
AC in General Coach: RDSO DG said that RDSO is working in this direction to provide AC facility to the passengers traveling in the general bogie. General coaches carry 200 to 300 passengers. According to their number, the AC plant will be designed, while the world is also working on new technology to get accurate information about rail fractures.
